We design and manufacture cylindrical helical double torsion springs in round wire, with diameters ranging from 0.10 mm to 16 mm, always according to the customer’s drawing, specifications, and/or sample. We use not only specific materials compliant with UNI EN 10270-1, UNI EN 10270-2, and UNI EN 10270-3 standards, but also special materials with specific mechanical properties and high-performance alloys. We manufacture torsion springs both compliant with UNI EN 13906-3 and according to customer specifications, with various types of shanks and/or geometries for torque transmission, including double torsion springs, springs with open coils, right- and left-handed windings, radial and longitudinal shanks, and springs subjected to heat stabilization treatments, shot peening, surface protection treatments, passivation, and other specific treatments requested.
Technical definition
The double torsion spring is usually made of circular cross-section wire, wound helically around an axis and with ends designed to transmit a bending moment, which reacts to a torsional moment around the longitudinal axis of the spring.
As a rule, the design equations are applicable only to torsion springs with fixed ends, guided in a circular motion, and not subject to friction. If the ends are not fixed, the spring must be guided by a spindle or housing. The force transmitted to the spindle or housing, acting simultaneously with the resisting force, produces the torque that generates the moment. The friction generated in this way influences the spring’s characteristic. If these springs have a small number of coils and/or long ends, the effect of the ends must be duly considered.
